Hello everybody! Once again, here we come with a Transaction dossiers article to expand our universe of tips in our #BestInMicro space.

Today we are going to test one of the new (old) functionalities: let’s see how Transaction Services work in Dossiers! And remember that to know a little more about what they are and how they work, you already have everything described and explained in this article.

Let’s get down to business, we are not going to get too complicated, but the idea is to see what the interface looks like and do a test together!

So, first what we need is:

1 – A table with whom we will make the transaction. For this example, I created a small test table. Check.

2 – Create the connection to this table. Check

3 – Create a new dossier and select our new table as data source.

4 – Make sure that it is imported correctly and select live connection.

5 – Create a new visualization of the modern grid type and add the fields we will work with.

6 – This is where the magic begins. We will set up transactions. Be careful. This option is available only in Workstation..
If you try it from the web, the option will not appear.

7 – And there we will see the options we have (update, delete or insert) and we will have to choose which table will be affected.

8 – For this example, we will choose to update the information by leaving the ID as the table key. To do this, we must define the where the query will use, by selecting the small icon next to the name. As you will see, there are also several options, but we will review this in the video.

In the example you see above, what it will do is basically update the data for the ID. The query would look like this:

9 – Little more is left to test it. We will see how above the columns that we can edit a small pencil appears. We will try changing the city of Lucia Martinez (id 6) to Toledo.

10 – Finally, we go to the database to check that the information has been updated, and voilà:

Conclusions

Congratulations, guys! We made it, and the possibilities are limited only by creativity. Next week we will analyze the options in detail with some video, but honestly it is a much simpler process than it was before, with the transaction reports and documents. I think this is a necessary, expected and very useful change because, above all, this is a key functionality and a competitive advantage that MicroStrategy has over the competition.

I hope you found it useful, and I look forward to seeing you next week!
