A whole life devoted to BI
After having dedicated my entire professional life to Business Intelligence, I think the time has come to create this blog in which to post experiences, tricks, discoveries and news.
In this first post I would like to make an introduction of my profile so that people who decide to follow me know even more about who I am, Juan Valladares, BI consultant.
For more than 15 years I have dedicated myself to consulting related to Business Intelligence in several clients, different consulting companies, as a freelancer and in the last period as the director of the consulting company, Best In BI (https://www.bestinbi.es). In all these customers I have worked with different tools, specializing in Microstrategy but with knowledge of Tableau, QlikSense, PowerBI, Essbase and databases such as Oracle, DB2 or SQL Server.
In the last year, I have written a book in collaboration with Albert Nogués, a great friend and technological genius, and the technical review of Marcos Muñoz, who is also a friend and tech guru. The book Business Intelligence Tools for Small Companies, available here: https://www.amazon.com/Open-Source-Business-Intelligence-Small-Companies/dp/1484225678 proposes the use of open source and low cost solutions to implement BI projects in SME environments or proof of concept trying to solve the analysis requirements with free products. From a pure BI point of view I make a comparison of Microstrategy Desktop, QlikSense and PowerBI that I consider useful to decide which option to choose if you are in the situation of starting a project with free tools.
I hope you find the contributions in this blog interesting.
